I finally got this song again (lost it when I changed computers). There's never been a more appropriate song to describe Rosa and Brandon. Every damn line. It makes me want to write, right now. But I desperately want to finish Advance before I do anything more. New canon FTW.
A Perfect Circle - The Noose
So glad to see you well
Overcome and completely silent now
With heaven's help
You cast your demons out
And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you off your cloud
But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're plannin' to go about makin' your amends
To the dead
To the dead
Recall the deeds as if they're all
Someone else's
Atrocious stories
Now you stand reborn
Before us all
So glad to see you well
And not to pull your halo down
Around your neck and tug you to the ground
But I'm more than just a little curious
How you're plannin' to go about makin' your amends
To the dead
To the dead
With your halo slippin' down
Your halo slippin'
Your halo slippin' down
Your halo slippin' down
Your halo slippin' down
(I'm more than just a little curious
How you're plannin' to go about makin' your amends)
Your halo slippin' down
Your halo slippin' down to choke you now
Don't see it, do you? Wait for later chapters. Rosa has this self righteous thing going on that's only so visible in the early chapters. Just wait. I love her as a flawed narrator. And I love that despite his Cain!Complex, Brandon is right when he calls her on her bullshit. I can't wait to write the scene that this fits so well into. You don't want to agree with Brandon. He's a bastard -- he's killed and manipulated and tormented, but he's right. Marin, too. It was probably Marin that enlightened Brandon in the first place, pointed out just how flawed Rosa's logic was. Maybe that's how B grew up so quickly.
Meh. Writing, later. Game and sleep.
